Togouchi 15YO 0,7L (43,8% Vol.)
Togouchi 15 YO
Togouchi 15 YO is a whisky from Japan - more precisely from the rather unknown distillery Chugoku Jozo in the Honshu region. Strictly speaking, the name "distillery" does not fit as it is a Japanese Blended Whisky.
Manufacturer and storage
The Togouchi 15 YO consists of Scottish (malt) and Canadian (grain) distillates stored in Japan. Some of the distillates are stored in a railway tunnel that has never been used and where, according to the manufacturer, the temperature is always 15 degrees - a unique selling point that makes the Japanese blended whisky even more interesting.
Aroma, taste and finish
The 15-year-old bottling of the Togouchi whisky reveals an exciting palette of aromas and flavors. Pepper, vanilla and caraway stand out on the surface, while nutty, malty, chocolaty and spicy accents rank slightly lower. It seems that the Togouchi 15 YO contains Peated Scotch, because it has a noticeable portion of smoke - quite surprising for a Japanese whisky. In the aftertaste, the bottling once again presents its sweet side - with notes of dark chocolate and hazelnuts.
Togouchi 15 years - Japanese Blended Whisky
Whisky Blends are a mixture of different varieties compared to Single Malts. The distillery Chugoku Jozo does not distill itself, but only matures and blends - successfully.
