Glenrothes 12 is a true representative from the Scottish distillery Glenrothes and belongs to one of the newest series - the Soleo Collection. This 12-year bottling is supposed to embody the typical house style. Its strong colour results from its storage in special sherry barrels.

Cask Selection

The Soleo-Collection is based on grapes from Andalusia which are exposed to the sun and thus dry out into raisins. These are then processed into sherry in selected oak barrels. Glenrothes is then allowed to rest in these barrels for 12 years to develop its intense colour and fine taste.

Aroma

The aromatic composition of Glenrothes 12 is elegant and harmonious. Meaningful notes of vanilla and banana beguile the nose and become more intense during the nosing. Subtle nuances of melon and cinnamon are also expressed in the aroma. And as one would expect from the maturation in sherry barrels, sherry notes also impress with wonderfully spicy tips when nosing.

Taste

Glenrothes 12 is particularly fruity on the palate and also reflects tropical fruits such as bananas, lemons and melon on the tongue. Cinnamon acts here as a spicy balance and rounds off the taste.

Finish

The Scotch Single Malt Whisky comes with a long finish. The spice is perceived even more intensively by the tongue towards the end and remains with you.
