How is Mortlach 16 YO made?
The Mortlach brand is known for its very special distillation processes. This whisky was passed through six different stills and distilled a total of 2.81 times. Afterwards, this Mortlach was matured exclusively in sherry casks for 16 years, which, in addition to its exceptional production, gives it its very own character.
The place where this special whisky is produced is in Dufftown (formerly Mortlach), where the whisky also gets its name from. The Mortlach distillery is considered the first legal distillery in this place.
What does Mortlach 16 YO taste like?
Mortlach 16 YO is the direct successor to Mortlach 16 YO Flora and Fauna. It is based on the taste of this excellent whisky, but is in no way inferior to its predecessor. Characteristic for it is its strong sherry note, which it owes to its maturation process. In addition, the taste of sweet honey and a multi-faceted spiciness beguile the taste buds.
