Kilchoman Sanaig 0,7L (46% Vol.)
Kilchoman Sanaig
Kilchoman Sanaig is at home on the Scottish island of Islay. As is typical for the region, the Single Malt Whisky has classic notes of peat smoke. Due to its storage and production process, it is also characterized by distinct fruity notes and has a remarkable sweetness.
The whisky is delivered with 46 % vol. and bottled in a 0.7L bottle.
Storage
In order to create this unique combination of flavors, the distillery marries various malts. Some matured in ex-Bourbon barrels, others in sherry barrels. Compared to the distillery's "Marching Bay" bottling, a larger proportion of the malts used were stored in barrels which have been used to mature Oloroso sherry before. The result is much more pronounced fruit tones.
Aroma and taste
The storage is already noticeable during the nosing. The smell of fruits rises from the glass. Berries and light lemons can be perceived. Combined with the sweetness of honey and vanilla and a subtle smokiness, the complex nature of the whisky can already be recognized.
Kilchoman Sanaig confirms the impression of a complex Single Malt also on the tongue. The sweetness can already be perceived at the first taste and is retained throughout. In addition, there is the smoky character that accompanies the taste experience throughout. The combination with citrus fruits results in an intensive and exciting composition.
The finish is rather medium long, but not less complex. The sip of Kilchoman Sanaig is finished by a wonderfully balanced combination of fruit, smoke and a present sweetness.
