Humboldt Gin
In honour of the 250th birthday of Alexander Humboldt, a gin was created at the Spreewood Distillery that the famous naturalist himself would certainly have liked to toast with.
250 years of Humboldt
In collaboration with the Botanical Garden Berlin and the German Historical Museum, a gin has been created to honour its namesake Alexander Humboldt on the 250th anniversary of his birth. A wild mixture of 21 botanicals immediately arouses curiosity about the Humboldt Gin and its label directly whets the appetite for adventure. Just as much spirit of adventure as Humboldt showed when he climbed Chimborazo, a mountain in Ecuador, in 1802.
Spreewood Distillery
Humboldt Gin is produced close to the lively capital Berlin in a small place in Brandenburg. There it is distilled in Brandenburg's oldest distillery: the Spreewood Distillery. Traditional copper hybrid pot stills are used for distillation. The basis of Humboldt Gin is a fine rye distillate, which is enriched with many other botanicals that ultimately determine the unique taste of Humboldt Gin.
Flavour
In addition to the rye flavour of the distillate and the typical juniper taste, notes of citrus and herbs as well as a slight spiciness can be tasted. This flavour is determined by 21 different botanicals, some of which were also collected by Humboldt on his journey to America. Congona, angostura bark, cinchona bark, allspice and guarana seeds are the special treasures that contribute to the taste of Humboldt Gin. In addition to these flavours, however, some floral and fruity aromas also stand out.
