Bunnahabhain 12 YO is a very full-bodied Single Malt Scotch Whisky with 46.3% Vol. Due to its high alcohol content it can be easily tasted with a little water. But the whisky can also be enjoyed pure. The smokiness of the whisky is unobtrusive - which ist rather rare comparing it to other Islay-Whiskys.
The Whisky spends its ripening time in oak and sherry barrels in order to be filled in 0.7L-bottles afterwards.
Aroma
His dark appearance already gives the Islay Single Malt a certain depth and adumbrates that there is more in it. Bunnahabhain 12 YO is not a typical Islay-Whisky because of the behavior of its smoky aroma. It behaves rather restrained and leaves the other aromas room to unfold. This drop presents itself in an exciting way showing a nutty side with a remarkable caramel sweetness.
Taste
The first sip already shows that the 12-year-old Bunnahabhain whisky is full-bodied, but rather lies lightly on the tongue. In the first seconds of tasting it you notice fruits, especially berries, which quickly lead to other aromas. The fruitiness is replaced by the nuts already recognized during nosing. These melt on the palate with clear notes of malt and a soft-sweet vanilla.
Finish
Bunnahabhain 12 YO takes its time for the finish. He finishes long and once again shows his spicy-sweet character. A little oak gives him an additional top.
